Original oil painting on Canvas 20x20” .
She’s carrying the weight of every version of herself she’s still figuring out.
There is a particular kind of overwhelm that belongs almost exclusively to women , the hunger to read everything, become everyone you might be, live every life that calls to you, all while navigating the one life you actually have. That tension is what this painting is about.
Stacked on her head is a tower of books many of us know intimately: The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F, Wow No Thank You, Adulting, Sorry I’m Late I Didn’t Want to Come* titles that feel less like a library and more like a shared inner monologue.
I want viewers to feel seen in their beautiful contradiction , the woman who wants everything and still hasn’t figured it all out. I want her to hang on your wall and remind you on a Tuesday morning that the not-knowing is not a failure. It’s the whole point.
I work in oils because the medium demands the same patience I try to bring to my subjects. Figurative painting is my most direct way to look another woman in the eye and say I see you. Warm, saturated color is how I bring heat and joy into spaces .
Part of an ongoing book-inspired figurative series celebrating women, stories, and the beautiful impossibility of a single life.
